Both Custom orders & E Designs go through the same process. Making an Interior Decorating Plan looks easy, looks like it can be done in a day. For some small projects, this is true. Especially if it’s just matching curtains or decor to your ‘now’ furniture. But making a plan that fits the client, can be a challenging task. Here is a quick overview of what we do with your plan. There is still a lot more involved but we will try and make this quick.
Floor Plans & Action Plans: After a consultation with the client. Understanding their style, what their needs are in the home. We get to work with a draw up of their space. We make a raw plan for their home based on the measurements given to us. This alone can be a full day of work, depending on how big the home is. After making the raw plan of the room, we try several different layouts with standard furniture we have in our program. We then have to layer it, and the final will be a placement plan that can be viewed in a 3D floor plan. 3D floor plans are more work than 2D. We use 2D floor plans in our lesser expensive plans.
Style preparation & Paint Ideas: After the layout idea is done, we then customize our templates for the client. We then get an idea of colours that we will be using in the Design. Going through magazines we have in our studio, online decorating sites, and more. We start throwing colours and furniture styles into a test board. We use a huge arrange of furniture, from our database, then colours by Benjamin Moore. We don’t show this to the client as these are not connected to any shopping links. We use these to work out the aesthetics, plan colour, and how it can all come together.
Shopping List: Once worked outplacement and style, we start looking for similar styles that fit the look in shops that are available to the client. Once we found items that match, remembering we also need to consider budget, ratings of the furniture, location, and possible requests from the client ( ie, leather sofa only) we gather all the links and photos of the furniture and add it to their file.
Edits: Once the file is full of the items we need, we edit the furniture to place into the style boards and info pages. Each item is individually edited so they give a great look on the page. Easier for you to view all the colours, furniture, decor together without it being all clumped together as it can be difficult to fully appreciate the style as a cohesive design. This is where small things that are not seen go into a lot of our work. Sometimes we won’t fully edit a picture, as this is extremely time-consuming, but we make it look as nice as possible for you to view.
Here are a few examples of an unedited style board and our edited style board. Some you can see they still have the backgrounds. With our style board, you can really experience better, what the finished outcome can be.

3D Visuals: We use a few different programs to do our 3D Floor Plans & Renders. One program we will share with you, that we use in some of our designs is Blender. However, we use a database of furniture that has over 500 thousand styles of furniture. If you have used animation software before, you would know that it takes training to use these programs. At this stage we don’t create the client’s furniture that is individual to the client (using your sofa or buffet) this alone can take up many, many man-hours and will skyrocket the price of our plans into the $1000s. We instead focused on new furniture that will match your pre-existing furniture.
Final Product: Once all the information is created, floor plans, action plans, 3d floor plans, then tested for styles, edited, into sections that would be from 15 to 25 pages. We then put it all together making the client’s PDF Booklet.
The finished product of the Custom Decorating Booklet has gone through several processes. And we use up to 6 programs to make the final. This is why it takes time to make our plans. For a standard size home, this process is about an average of two weeks. When you reflect on what goes into the work of our designs, we view our prices very reasonable. But that is why we have made our E-Plans for a cost-effective instant plan.
